DIY Mother’s Day Card Using Cricut Design Space™

Today I am sharing a super easy Mother’s Day card I made using the Cricut Explore Air™ 2  machine. This craft is perfect for a beginner Cricut user like myself! Let’s get started, shall we?I will admit I was a little nervous to use this beautiful mint machine. But after watching a few tutorials on the Cricut website I gave it a whirl and have been crafting with it every chance I get!  The Cricut Explore Air™ 2 and the Cricut Design Space™ are very user friendly and easy to use. Making this card was super fun and easy!

Cricut Design Space™ is a free, cloud-based, easy-to-use software that lets you edit, customize, and preview projects on your computer, iPad®, iPhone®, or Android device.  There are images for every project, holiday, and style in the Cricut Image Library, too! Prices vary but I have found some cute ones as low as 99 cents! You can view the Cricut Access Membership Plans  for more information.

I chose to make an existing Make It Now project found in the Circut Design Space. It is titled Simple Mother’s Day Card by Kaytee.  I was super impressed by how the software walked me through each step (which paper to use, what tools to use, etc.) and I could definitely see myself making more projects since there are so many fun ones to choose from!

Materials Needed for this project:

Cricut Explore Air™ 2 machine

Cricut Design Space™

12 in x 12 in LightGrip Cricut® mat

Cricut® Scoring Stylus

Cricut® Weeder Tool

Patterned cardstock

Grey cardstock

Pink cardstock

Adhesive Foam squaresThis project makes one 5 in X 7 in card with an envelope to fit. I thought this was brilliant! The Cricut Scoring Stylus used to make the envelope is officially my favorite tool!  Such a timesaver for folding!

Instructions:

Cut: In Cricut Design Space™, cut images from cardstock.Assemble: When removing the pink cardstock from the mat, make sure to keep the insides of the letters. I used the Weeder tool to assist with this. Adhere the smaller circle with the letters cut out to the larger solid circle. Glue the insides of the letters in place.Apply foam squares to the back of text circle and adhere to front of card.

To form envelope, fold along score lines and adhere side flaps to the inside of the bottom flap. And that’s it, a super cute and simple Mother’s Day card that I cannot wait to share this weekend!I just love the simplicity of the envelope too!  You could literally use any paper combination your heart desires, even add a few embellishments. What do you think? Are you ready to try out the Circuit Explore Air 2?  I am just scratching the surface of what this amazing machine can do so be sure to follow along to see some more ideas!  In the next couple weeks I plan to share how you can make your own designs easily in Cricut Design Space™.

Perhaps you plan to try a new hobby, read a new book or embark on a new travel adventure with the family while the kids are out of school. I created this SUMMER GOALS sign to remind me of the upcoming camping adventures I plan to have with my family this summer. This vinyl sign is my first original creation using my new best friend, the Cricut Explore Air™ 2.  (If you missed the introduction of my new favorite crafting tool no worries you can see it by clicking here Cricut Explore Air 2 and DIY Mother’s Day Card Using Cricut Design Space™.)
