This month on Instagram I was asked to cohost a challenge using supplies from the Dollar Tree and local dollar bin items at other well known stores. I wanted to recap and share a few easy DIY ideas with you here, too!
For Halloween, I chose to make a few items based on the themes of Ghosts, Witches and Wildcard.
I made this rag tie garland by cutting up a old white t-shirt and gluing googly eyes found at the Dollar Tree. My son helped me with this one, and it was a lot of fun to make!
I made this Halloween coffee mug using a black mug at the Dollar Store. I embellished it with some vinyl I designed using my Cricut Explore Air 2. It was my first time using vinyl on a mug and love how it came out!
Be on the lookout, I think I will be making more mugs for other holidays, too!
For Wildcard Week, I chose to update this cute bubble gum machine I found at the Dollar Store. Initially I was going to paint it, but the yellow grew on me, especially after finding the cute (and tasty) Candy Corn M&Ms. I also embellished it with some vinyl using my Cricut Explore Air 2.
For pumpkin week, I used a mini crock found at the Target dollar bin. This little crock was $3 and came in several colors… of course my heart stopped a beat when I saw the orange! I thought it would make a cute jack-o-lantern so I embellished it with some vinyl using my Cricut Explore Air 2.
And of course I made a Thanksgiving version, too! I love how it came out!
I also painted some Dollar Tree pumpkins using white chalk paint. I then embellished them by using cute washi tape and gold ribbon.
I had a lot of fun with this challenge and glad to show you that decor does not have to be pricey. DIY decorations can be fun to make and personalize for your own needs. I hope you enjoyed this post!
